4 girls including a minor rescued from Siwan

Kolkata: In a major breakthrough, the Haridevpur police of the South West division of Kolkata Police rescued four girls including a minor from Siwan in Bihar and arrested a trafficker.
According to police sources, a lady had lodged a complaint on December 21 that her daughter has been abducted and wrongfully confined somewhere in Siwan. The lady had also named one Chandan Kumar to be one of the suspects in the crime.
"A team of officers from Haridevpur police station set off for Siwan on December 24 and after working on some local sources they managed to rescue the victim from a hideout at Akashi More, under police station Maharajgunj, in Siwan, Bihar. The accused, Chandan Kumar, was also arrested from there," Meeraj Khalid, Deputy Commissioner of South West division said.
The four girls along with the arrested accused were brought to the city on Thursday following legal procedures.
On interrogating the accused, cops learnt that he had taken the girls to Bihar to work with a group that performs dance programmes at functions. They were threatened of dire consequences if they tried to leave the place. The accused was produced at Alipore Court and was remanded to police custody.
