2 held for assaulting siblings over car parking row in Salt Lake

Kolkata: Two persons were beaten up at BK block in Salt Lake after they protested against illegal parking of a car in front of a house. Later, the two accused persons were arrested. The duo is identified as Subhankar Pramanik and Litu Majumder.

According to locals, on Monday morning at around 6 am, a resident of BK block noticed two persons parking their car in front of his house. He asked them not to park the car in front of the house while standing in the balcony. Despite repeated requests, Pramanik and Majumdar did not bother to pay attention.

Immediately, the person went down and told them to move it away from in front of the house. The duo got agitated and started hurling expletives at him and an altercation broke out between them. All of a sudden Pramanik and Majumdar started beating up the protestor.

On seeing the victim getting beaten up, his sister rushed to his aid. Though she requested Pramanik and Majumdar to stop and leave, none of the accused bothered. On the contrary, they hurled expletives at her as well.

When she warned them, Pramanik and Majumdar allegedly held her hands and assaulted her. They allegedly tried to outrage her modesty and threatened her with dire consequences.

The victims somehow managed to free themselves and entered their house. Later, they lodged a complaint at Bidhannagar East police station. Upon receiving the complaint, the sleuths arrested both of them on charges of assault or criminal force on woman with an intent to outrage her modesty (354 IPC), voluntarily causing hurt (323 IPC), wrongful restraint (341 IPC) criminal intimidation (506 IPC) and common intention (34 IPC).
