Mumbai businessman kidnapped in Delhi, rescued in midnight op

NEW DELHI: A 64-year-old Mumbai based businessman was honey trapped in Delhi and was kidnapped from a 5 star hotel and taken to Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi where a ransom of 30 lakhs was demanded from his close ones. The police were informed at around 10:16 pm on Friday night and soon the New Delhi team swung into action and started looking for clues of the abducted businessman. The Chanakyapuri police team then collected the CCCTV footage of the place from where he was abducted and the vehicle was found to be from Jhangirpuri. Soon, the kidnappers' number was traced to Laxmi Nagar and a team of police officials rushed to rescue the businessman. The other teams focused on gang with similar modus operandi. The caller's number was put on surveillance with immediate effect by the police team.

According to sources, the man was honey trapped by a gang which comprised of 6 members including 4 women. The gang assumed that the ransom would be paid off easily as the victim might fear for his social reputation. However, the police team laid a trap and in a midnight operation rescued the businessman. He frequented to Delhi on business trips and fell prey to the gang which abducted him and took him to an undisclosed location from where he was safely rescued. "We have arrested 6 persons including 4 women in kidnapping for ransom case," said a police officer.
