The police personnel was from North Port police station and was standing at Tagore Ghat when he saw a person attempting suicide by throwing himself in the river, later, identified as Ashoke Sahu.
On seeing this, the police personnel promptly jumped into the river and saved him.After he was rescued, Sahu was taken to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital for treatment and his
condition is stable now, as per the doctors.
Police are yet to ascertain the address of the victim.
