BNCCI to hold four-day meet to woo Singapore investors

Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) along with the St Xavier’s Alumni Association, Singapore chapter, and the Singapore Bengali Association will organise a four-day international meet to persuade the investors in Singapore starting August 25.

The theme of the conference is to showcase West Bengal, propagate Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s message and request investors to invest in the state. Father Felix Raj, Principal of St Xavier’s College on Wednesday inaugurated the programme in Kolkata. In may be mentioned that to woo the industrialists, the Bengal Global Business Summit is going to be held in the city on January 20, 2017.

The BNCCI delegation comprises of 22 members including industrialists and entrepreneurs. Sattam Roy Chowdhury of Techno India, Ritwik Das of Bluechip will also be a part of the delegation. Das said that three state ministers, Purnendu Bose (Agriculture), Sadhan Pande (Consumer Affairs) and Goutam Deb (Tourism) had visited BNCCI and discussed in details about the areas where there was a possibility of foreign investment. Bose has prepared a note which will be read out at the conference on Thursday.

Das said that with the changing scenario, West Bengal was coming up as a favoured destination. After online method was introduced in various departments, getting clearance to set up an industry has become a lot easier. Because of the initiatives taken by Mamata Banerjee, the NRI staying in Singapore and other areas had shown a keen interest in buying flats in West Bengal.

The team will also showcase New Town which is recently coming up as a green city.
