The West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) has awarded meritorious students, who are wards of their staff. The award ceremony was inaugurated by the managing director of WBTC, Rajanvir Singh Kapur, in the presence of other senior officials from WBTC.
The aim was to motivate the people working in WBTC by organising Academic Excellence Awards 2023, which was organised for the first time. It was held for the students who passed classes X and XII with an overwhelming result.
Of the three parts in WBTC–CSTC, CTC and WBSTC, 18 students were felicitated and were present at the ceremony along with their parents. Kapur handed over a certificate, trophy, a prize and an appreciation letter while recognising their achievements.
Most of the students who received the award wanted to clear the JEE or NEET examinations. State Transport minister Snehasis Chakraborty said: “My best wishes go to all students who have done well. I am glad such an initiative has taken place.”
Kapur, in his welcome speech, assured that all kind of assistance and support will be provided to make their dreams come true. He opined that they could make reading rooms with career counselling books for the children of staff.
