Kolkata: Tridhara Sammilani, a distinguished Kolkata institution renowned for its expansive Durga Puja celebrations and impactful CSR activities, hosted this first-of-its-kind marathon to promote health, fitness and community engagement. The grand first edition of the Tridhara 21K Marathon, presented by the Emami Group, was a star studded gathering with the vibrant presence of actors Jisshu Sengupta, Abir Chatterjee, Devlina Kumar, Gourab Chatterjee, Anindya Chatterjee, Vikram Chatterjee and acclaimed film director Tathagata Mukherjee.
With over 3,000 participants, the Tridhara 21K Marathon has set a new benchmark for sporting events in the city, featuring four race categories — 21K, 10K, 5K and 3K — that catered to a wide spectrum of fitness enthusiasts, from professional athletes to beginners.
“The Tridhara 21k Marathon, a celebration of Kolkata’s spirit, vitality and unity. This event reflects our city’s dedication to embracing a healthier lifestyle and strengthening community bonds. We are delighted by the encouraging participation and support in this inaugural edition and are excited to establish it as an annual tradition,” said Debasish Kumar, MLA, Rashbehari Constituency. The 21K and 10K races began at Deshpriya Park, winding through iconic landmarks like Lake Kali Bari, Gol Park, Gariahat Flyover, Park Circus and Ballygunge Circular Road.
The 5K route offered a shorter yet equally captivating journey, taking participants from Deshpriya Park to Gariahat Flyover and back. For beginners, the 3K loop provided a welcoming introduction, passing through Lake Kali Bari, Gol Park and Rashbehari Avenue.
Each route beautifully showcased Kolkata’s vibrant character, making the marathon a memorable and enriching experience for all participants. The participants started their preparation for the marathon with zumba warm-up sessions, creating a lively and spirited atmosphere for the day. All participants were awarded finisher’s medals and t-shirts, leaving them with cherished memories of a truly unforgettable event.
