Siliguri: Thieves reportedly decamped with four computer systems from a Punjab National Bank branch in Fulbari, adjacent to Siliguri. The incident came to light on Monday morning when employees arrived at the bank after the weekend closure and discovered that the back gate was broken and the premises were in disarray.

The New Jalpaiguri police (NJP) was immediately informed, and officers arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

According to the bank authorities, no money was stolen from the premises, but four computers were reported missing. Branch manager Ved Prakash confirmed that the vault remained untouched.

“The bank was closed for two days. When we came in this morning, we found the gate was broken. Police have started an investigation into the incident,” said Prakash.

The bank operates from the second floor of a residential building, with an ATM located on the ground floor. CCTV footage obtained by the police showed two individuals breaking into the building through the back gate at approximately 11:18 PM on Friday. The suspects had their faces covered.

The police are analysing the CCTV footage and collecting additional evidence as part of their investigation.
