SJDA draws up plans for ‘Vision 2045’

Siliguri: Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) has prepared a report on projects to be incorporated under “Vision 2045” of Siliguri.

The SJDA has undertaken a host of development work. Sourav Chakraborty, chairman of SJDA has assured that funds for the works will be distributed equally in the Corporation and Panchayat areas, without seeing any political colour.

“About 100 works have been undertaken by the SJDA to give a facelift to the areas under SJDA. As instructed by the Chief Minister, we will give funds equally to Corporations and rural areas,” the chairman said.

On Thursday, the 149th board meeting of SJDA was held at the office of the SJDA in Siliguri.

The chairman said that 2046 square km area falls under the SJDA, including 46 square km area in the corporation area. A report has been prepared by the SJDA keeping in view “Vision 2045” of Siliguri. Under this project, SJDA is planning to construct a parallel bridge on the River Mahananda in Siliguri.

A model road will be constructed at Ward number 31 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The road from Mallaguri to Burdwan will be renovated and decorated by the SJDA. New parking spaces, new bus stands are also being constructed.

Apart from this, on the issue of Bidhan Market he said: “SJDA will not be able to sell any government land without the permission of the Cabinet.”
