During the festival of Eid al-Fitr, the Railways has ordered a temporary suspension of Mitali Express, the International train which runs between India and Bangladesh. This train has been suspended for a total of six days ahead of Eid. In this regard, a notice has been issued by the North East Frontier Railways so that the passengers do not face any problems.
“The Railways has issued the notification declaring a temporary suspension of Mitali Express during the Eid festival. If any passenger has already bought a ticket, they will get a refund,” said Sabyasachi Dey, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North East Frontier Railway. Mitali Express is the only train which runs from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) in Siliguri to Dhaka in Bangladesh.
As per the notification, the train has been suspended on April 19, 23 and 26 from New Jalpaiguri and on April 20, 24 and 27 April from Dhaka.It is noted that the Mitali Express started running on 1 June, 2022. This International train runs from NJP station in Siliguri. The train enters Bangladesh through the Haldibari station. The value of this International train is gradually increasing in the public.
This train has a special demand among tourists.
