GRP Seized Brown Sugar Worth Rs 2 Crore in Malda
Malda: Malda GRP seized 4.46 kg of brown sugar worth Rs 2.2 crore from inside a blanket during a raid on the Down Vivek Express at Malda Town Station, based on Kolkata STF’s tip-off. A suspect identified as Jakir Hossain (45) of Kaliachak was arrested. The drugs were reportedly transported from Manipur to Malda. An investigation is ongoing and the accused has been produced in the court.
Siliguri woman found hanging, dowry death suspected
Siliguri: The body of a married woman was found hanging inside her house in Shantinagar, ward number 36, in Siliguri on Monday morning. The woman has been identified as Bhagwati Paul (35). Cops from Ashighar police station rushed to the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. The deceased woman’s parents alleged that she was murdered for dowry. They claimed that her husband used to physically abuse her demanding dowry. However, the woman’s husband denied the allegations.
