Children’s quarrel turns into family feud, 8 arrested
Siliguri: A minor dispute between two children escalated into a major confrontation between their families. Pradhan Nagar Police arrested 8 people. The incident happened at Bandrijote area in Siliguri on Thursday. The conflict turned violent, with both groups resorting to stone-pelting. Police forces, including the Rapid Action Force were deployed and controlled the situation.
Two arrested with brown sugar worth about Rs 50 lakh
Malda: In a significant drug bust Thursday, Baishnabnagar Police, acting on a tip off arrested Najmul Hossain (22) of Srirampur and Ataul Sk (55) residents of Baliadanga, with 404 grams of brown sugar. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 50 lakh.
South Dinajpur Police distribute winter clothes & books to needy
BALURGHAT: The South Dinajpur District Police organised a programme at Kashipur Football Ground in Balurghat to distribute winter clothes and educational materials on Friday. About 150 needy individuals received winter clothes, while 50 children were provided with both winter clothes and books. The event also featured a community meal where around 400 people were served food. Superintendent of Police Chinmay Mittal remarked: “It is not merely assistance but an effort to address the needs of the community with a humanitarian perspective.
