Alipurduar: The Alipurduar District Trinamool women’s cell held a protest march on Thursday, condemning the Central government’s role in the ongoing violence in BJP-ruled Manipur, which has been continuing for the past two months. Chandrima Bhattacharya, TMC leader, led the protest march in Alipurduar. The demonstrators protested at the Alipurduar Chowpathi.
On Thursday afternoon, workers of the TMC women’s cell assembled at the district TMC party office at College Halt and commenced the march. Bhattacharya said: “Today, the entire nation hangs its head in shame before the global community. Despite the gravity of the Manipur incident, the PM’s address to the Parliament lasted nearly two and a half hours, with a mere 4-minute dedicated to discussing Manipur. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tirelessly works towards empowering women in Bengal. Going beyond the 50 per cent reservation, women hold significant roles in Gram Panchayats.”
