ITC’s Rs 1,200 cr I-T campus gets occupancy nod; 5K jobs to be created: Mamata
Kolkata: Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) is issuing the occupancy certificate for ITC Ltd’s IT & ITES campus in Action Area-III of New Town.
The facility is set to begin operations shortly and will create direct employment for over 5,000 professionals.
“Glad to share that the Occupancy Certificate is being issued by our New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) for ITC Limited’s world-class IT & ITES campus in Action Area-III of New Town, spread over 17 acres of land allotted by our WBHIDCO,” Banerjee posted on her X handle. “The campus comprises three key buildings—a high-rise office tower, a business support centre, and a dedicated knowledge centre—together offering over 14.5 lakh sq. ft. of already built-up space. With an investment of around Rs. 1,200 crore, the facility is set to generate direct employment for more than 5,000 professionals now,” Banerjee further posted.
She reiterated that with this milestone, operations are set to commence shortly, further accelerating West Bengal’s progress as a preferred destination for investments by leading national and international digital and technology-driven enterprises.
Last month, the New Town Kolkata Development Authority approved the Phase-I building plan for the TCS office campus at Bengal Silicon Valley, which spans 20 acres. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced this development and highlighted that Bengal is gradually becoming a hub of innovation.
Banerjee also stated that in the first phase, world-class infrastructure will be developed, creating significant employment opportunities.
Taking to X, Banerjee had posted: “In this first phase, 9 lakh sq. ft. of world-class infrastructure, including an 11-storey office tower, will be developed, creating employment for 5,000 individuals.”
Taking a dig at the Opposition parties, Banerjee had further stated: “To those who relentlessly malign Bengal and wilfully ignore the strides we are making, let this be a reminder of our capacity to deliver. Bengal is emerging as a hub of innovation, investment, and inclusive growth. BENGAL MEANS BUSINESS, and the world is taking note.”
