Malda: The CID’s cyber team is making notable strides in unraveling the murder case of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Dulal Sarkar. On Saturday, CID cyber expert Mamata Chakraborty presented a detailed examination of the accused’s mobile phones before a magistrate. The investigation delved into call records, text messages and chat histories to establish communication patterns of the accused. These findings are expected to play a pivotal role in the ongoing inquiry.
Efforts are underway to locate absconding suspects. Sources suggest the fugitives are attempting to mislead investigators by displaying locations across Nepal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Siliguri. To counter this, a special task force has been deployed to apprehend them.
Meanwhile, three accused — Samee Akhtar, Tinku Ghosh and Abdul Gani — were remanded to judicial custody until January 17 by the court on Sunday. A significant breakthrough emerged from the mobile phone of accused Ashraf Khan, which revealed connections with other conspirators involved in the murder. Commenting on this, cyber expert Mamata Chakraborty explained: “We extracted all data from the 256 GB mobile phone in the presence of the court. However, it is up to the police to evaluate its significance in the case.”
Trinamool Congress State vice-president Jayprakash Majumdar visited Dulal Sarkar’s family in Mahanandapally on Saturday evening, offering his condolences to the widow. Women from the neighborhood gathered around Majumdar, urging swift justice. In response, he assured them: “The police and administration are conducting a thorough investigation. We stand firmly with the family and demand justice.” A memorial meeting was held at Pallishree Ground in English Bazar. Jayprakash Majumdar read out a message from state leader of the party, Subrata Bakshi, paying tribute to Sarkar alongside senior district party leaders. The meeting served as a platform for party members and supporters to express solidarity with the victim’s family and reinforce their demand for a fair investigation into the murder.
