Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shashi Panja said on Sunday that the BJP leaders have no connection with the people at the ground level and hence they cannot fight with the TMC politically.

Reacting to a warning given by BJP MP Shantanu Thakur that the TMC government in Bengal will fall within 5 months, Panja who is also the Minister in charge of the state Industry as well as Women and Child Development department said: “They have nothing to give except such warnings. They have deprived the people of their wages for 100 days work and the construction of houses. They are not paying the dues of the state. They never reach out to the people at the grassroots level and indulge in propaganda through television channels and print and moving to the court.”

Panja who was present at the Khunti Puja of Beniatola Sarbojanin in Sovabazar accused the BJP of horse-trading during elections by offering money to MPs and MLAs because of their failure to fight politically for winning elections.

“In the case of TMC they have failed to lure our MPs and MLAs by money power and so they are giving such warning,” she added.

Thakur who happens to be the Union minister of state for Shipping at a programme at Gaighata in North 24-Parganas said: “Nothing is permanent in this world. Has TMC came to power with some permanent settlement that it would be in power forever? I can guarantee that the TMC government will last another five months.”
