Alipurduar: On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Alipurduar District Hospital received a major upgrade—a 10-bed dialysis unit that became operational on Tuesday. Considered a gift from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the unit was inaugurated in the presence of Alipurduar MLA Suman Kanjilal, hospital superintendent Dr Paritosh Mondal and senior doctors.
Set up under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the unit is equipped with state-of-the-art dialysis machines. Dr Mondal expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying: “What could be more meaningful than inaugurating this unit on Doctors’ Day? We’re confident this facility will eliminate the challenges faced by dialysis patients.
For in-patients, the service will be provided entirely free-of-cost.” According to hospital authorities, the new facility is sufficient to meet current demand. Speaking at the event, MLA Suman Kanjilal said: “We are truly grateful to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Without her initiative, launching a fully modern dialysis unit in such a short time would not have been possible.”
