2L saplings to be planted in a day in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri: The state forest department has decided to plant a total of 48 lakh trees across the state on the occasion of this year’s Van Mahotsav. According to this plan, the district forest department has initiated work to plant about two lakh saplings in one day in Jalpaiguri district on July 18. The initiative includes planting trees in schools, colleges, parks, and panchayat areas.

Van Mahotsav will be celebrated from 14 to 20 July. The Social Forestry Department of the district will plant 8000 saplings, while the District Soil Conservancy will plant 2500 saplings, and the District Divisional Forest Department will plant one and a half lakh saplings. Ayan Ghosh, the Divisional Forest Officer of Parks and Gardens North Zone, mentioned that 48 Trees will be planted throughout North Bengal, including 22 parks in the region.
