Woman jumps to death from DDA building

A 20-year-old Delhi University student jumped to her death from the eighth floor of the DDA Tower 2 situated at the District Center in Janakpuri area of West Delhi on Thursday afternoon. The deceased, identified as Kavita took the extreme step because her family was facing financial problems, after her father’s demise, due to which she was depressed, said a senior police officer. She was a second year student of the SPM College.

According to the police, the incident happened at around 1.30pm on Thursday when locals made a PCR call about a woman who had jumped from the DDA building. The girl was taken to Amar Leela hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, a crime team rushed to the crime scene for collecting evidence.

As per the statements of the locals, there were allegedly no blood stains on the ground where her body was found. The crime team also agreed that the woman could have died of internal injuries, said a police officer.

However, the cause of her death will be ascertained once the post-mortem examination is conducted, said the police.

Kavita was a resident of Sagarpur area and she is survived by her mother and a brother.

“No suicide note was recovered from the possession of the woman. Inquest proceeding has been initiated into the matter,” said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
