Responding to his suspension, Obaid Siddiqui said to Millennium Post that raising his voice against the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Talat Ahmad resulted in his suspension. On speaking on his opposition of five per cent reservation for the wards of the employees, Siddiqui said: “It is not that I am against it but I just raised the issue taking into consideration that this policy was rejected by the Delhi High Court as well as the Supreme Court and even if I am against it would that merit suspension?”
Prof Siddiqui accused of misconduct in running the affairs of the campus said that he will challenge his suspension in the court.
Speaking on suspension, Dr Mukesh Ranjan, spokesperson, Jamia said that the issue of suspension will be discussed in the executive committee and the future course of action will be decided based on that.
