Two criminals held; arms, ammunition recovered

Two people, including the gang leader, allegedly involved in number of criminal cases, armed robberies and murders have been arrested here, police said on Friday. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from them.

“The accused have been identified as Deepak Sirohi and Danish Jamal, who were arrested from near Dilshad Garden Metro Station parking. A sophisticated pistol was recovered from them,” a police official claimed. The gang leader, Jamal was allegedly involved in robbery of over Rs1 crore, in separate cases, in south Delhi in the past.

According to police, a team of Special Cell was looking for Danish Jamal for the last six months on a sustained basis. On March 24, an input was received that Jamal was planning to execute a heinous crime in the national Capital and was expected to meet an associate near the Hanuman temple, backside of the GB Road.

It was also learnt that Deepak, his associate, will be meeting another associate near Dilshad Garden Metro Station parking and thereafter, will come to join Jamal.

“A trap was laid at both the places and the duo was arrested. However, to avert his arrest, Jamal flashed his pistol but was over powered and nabbed,” the official added.
