Three Delhi Police traffic cops arrested for trying to sodomise 25-year-old
It is yet another stain on the khaki as three traffic policemen of Delhi Police including a zonal officer and two constables have been arrested for trying to sodomise a 25-year-old man inside Subzi Mandi traffic police office in North Delhi. Three more accused, including two traffic cops, are yet to be identified by the accused.
The incident took place on Saturday at around 10 pm when the victim was going to his friend’s house with the driver of his goods’ carrier. Midway, a few traffic cops stopped him for driving during ‘No Entry’ timing. The victim, a resident of Mangolpuri, gave the challan of Rs 2,100 and started making video of other goods’ carriers who were openly flouting the traffic rules but were not being challaned by the cops.
According to the victim, the cops became angry after he started shooting and they forcibly took him to Subzi Mandi traffic police office where three persons were consuming alcohol. When the victim’s driver intervened, he was allegedly thrown out of the room and the doors were locked from inside. The victim told the cops that around five to six men beat him up brutally and tore off his clothes. After stripping him naked, they tried to sodomise him. In the meantime, the victim’s father and uncle reached there and all of them fled the spot.
A case under Sections 365, 341, 342, 323, 427, 377, 511 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Subzi Mandi police station.
On Sunday, three accused were arrested while the remaining are yet to be identified.
Madhur Verma, DCP (North) confirmed the arrest and said that details of the arrested accused cannot be disclosed as it might hamper the investigation.
