Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) is all set to semi-rename six of its Metro stations in national Capital soon. These Metro stations are Pitampura, Azadpur, Vishwavidyala, Dwarka Sector-14, Pragati Maidan, Dwarka Sector-10. With this step, DMRC will generate revenue.
The brand owner will have semi-naming rights at the selected Metro stations. DMRC will allow brand owners to build the station buildings in their brands colours, refurbishment of station exterior and interior in brands colour scheme & theme besides the brand’s name (suffixed or pre fixed) with the station name.
The licensee will be permitted to carry out the branding by way of integrating station signages for the purpose of optimisation of spaces inside the Metro station, provided it is technically feasible and has been approved by the DMRC.
The brand owner will be permitted to use and display the logo of the brand at the station. The licensee shall also be entitled to use logo or the brand name at the directional network signages at the stations.
So far, five stations in NCR and one from Delhi have already been re-named. For example, MG Road station in the Yellow Line will be rechristened as Syska LED MG Road, Guru Dronacharya has been changed to Indigo Guru Dronacharya, Vaishali to Dainik Jagran Vaishali station.
In Delhi, Shivaji Stadium station on the Airport Express Metro Line (AEML) has been semi-renamed as ONGC Shivaji Stadium.
For the next phase of bidding, the DMRC has chalked out a list of stations where five will be from the Violet Line (ITO-Escorts Mujesar), four from the Blue Line (Dwarka Sector 21-Wave City Centre Noida) and one from the Yellow Line (HUDA City Centre-Samaypur Badli).
