Property dealer shot dead in East Delhi

A 36-year-old property dealer was shot dead allegedly by another property dealer in east Delhi’s Jagatpuri area, police said on Monday.

The accused, Rajiv Chaudhary (32), has been arrested and the pistol used in the crime committed last night has been recovered from him, they said.

The victim, Anup Sehgal, had his office in Radehpuri Extension. He lived with his family in the same area.

‘The incident came to light around 1 am today when a passerby made a PCR call stating that Sehgal was lying in a pool of blood at Jagatpuri Road. A police team reached the spot and rushed him to hospital where he was declared ‘brought dead’, said a senior police official. There was a bullet wound in his stomach and he died due to excessive bleeding. The body was moved for autopsy, he said.

Police registered a case of murder. During questioning, the victim’s relatives told police that Sehgal had some financial dispute with Chaudhary, the official said. Police detained Chaudhary for questioning, during which he confessed to have committed the crime.
