Update: 2016-08-05 00:59 GMT
The authority, announcing the move earlier in July, has stated that nearly 1,500 metric tonne extra garbage, silt and other solid waste materials have been lifted in the past three days. The drive is being conducted in all 10 circles of the city with the help of sanitation and health department employees. The authority has also pressed additional equipment and resources into service and to impose fines if one is found littering.

“Recently there was massive waterlogging in and around the city following which we decided to intensify our ongoing drive. We have been carrying such drives on a regular basis but this time we have received more complaints. The people’s complaints have been taken into consideration as the authority is committed to make the city clean,” said a senior authority official.

The authority official said that city is cleaned by the sanitation and health departments in two parts starting from 5 am every morning till 6 in the evening. The staff, deployed for the cause, has been covering at least 100 areas from all its circles.

“On Monday, the first day of the drive, we deployed as many as 617 sanitation staff, 123 tractor trolleys, 115 tractors, 25 JCB machines, four tippers and six water pumps and covered more than 100 places. On Tuesday, we put 677 staff and 22 JCB machines. On Wednesday, we deployed 625 staff, 115 tractors, 25 JCB machines. In all, in three days, we have lifted nearly 500 metric tonne additional garbage from the city,” informed the official.

The official added that complaints related to waterlogging, pipes and storm-water drains are being cleaned so that water does remain logged causing inconvenience to residents and motorists. The arterial roads of the city and areas from where we have been receiving complaints are being cleaned. Sanitation and health officials have been directed to position pumps to drain out rain water.

The department’s staff will also be on duty to deal with any emergencies during the entire Monsoon months. If anyone is found indulging in littering, challans will be issued as per law,” added the official.
To make the city garbage-free, Noida Authority had announced to allocate Rs 330 crore budget to carry out clean mission and had initiated tenders last year.

The authority, under its plan, had decided to allocate the budget for mechanical sweeping and a waste collection-disposal project. The Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) had also decided to join hands announcing to carry out 15-day long cleanliness drive by the end of second week of July.
