Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Naresh Kumar, on Thursday inaugurated a one-day workshop on Prevention and Control of dengue, chikungunya and water-borne diseases.
Stressing upon the need for prevention and control these diseases, the Chairman said that New Delhi is the seat of Government of India and the legislative and judiciary are housed here. So it is the responsibility of the civic body to maintain its environment hygienically, make it livable and make it free from any seasonal diseases. This can be made possible with public participation at individual level, Naresh Kumar said.
Calling upon the stakeholders and team NDMC, he said that sustained public awareness campaigns with regard to prevention and control of such diseases should be launched on a regular basis with active participation of non-government organisations (NGOs), Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), market associations and students of schools and colleges should be involved in the campaigns.
For dissemination of the preventive measures of diseases, the communication channels of the Council like NDMC mobile app ‘NDMC311’, Toll-free no 1533 and social media should be put in operation for the purpose, he said.
