The event was inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Bhalla, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, on Friday evening in the Capital.
A K Bhalla, who has been a part of MMTC’s gold event in the past also, lit the inaugural lamp and declared the Festival of Gold open. He was accompanied by MMTC’s CMD Ved Prakash and directors of the company.
“The central theme of the Festival of Gold is purity and trust,” Ved Prakash said during his address, and added that “The objective is to offer a wide array of quality jewellery from the length and breadth of India as well as value-added bullion products at affordable prices under a single roof.” The latest edition of the much-awaited exhibition has on display MMTC’s complete product range of hallmarked gold and certified stone-studded jewellery, gold and silver medallions in 999 purity, the company’s latest range of Sanchi silverware, and the Indian Gold Coin.
MMTC was assigned the prestigious responsibility of launching the Indian Gold Coin, the first-ever national gold offering by the government of India, which is now being retailed through the company’s outlets across India. The IGC is also available for sale at Phulkari emporiums and at the Indian Overseas Bank on Parliament Street. MMTC is the biggest brand in the precious metal sector and the only government of India enterprise in the jewellery sector.
