A 17-year-old minor girl was rescued from a posh highrise condominium in Gurgaon after cops were alerted by a Delhi-based NGO. The minor girl was working as a maid at an apartment in Essel Towers on MG Road.
The police also said that it was the girl’s mother, who hailed from West Bengal, approached the placement agency through which her daughter got the job.
“The mother told this placement agency that her daughter was not being paid for the past six months and that she had been continuously harassed by her employers — both working in a private firm,” said a senior police official. A joint rescue operation was carried out by the cops from women’s police station and NGO officials. The girl was then taken to the women’s police station where she revealed that her employers had confined her and had also assaulted her on many occasions. In her complaint, she said she was raped by their driver. Her medical reports confirmed rape but a senior doctor said that there were no external injuries and bruises. The women police station has registered a case against the employer under Section 344-347 (sections of wrongful confinement) of the IPC (sections of wrongful confinement), Section 6 of the Juvenile Justice Act, Section 14 of the Labour Act and the driver has been booked under the POCSO Act.
