Man, son die as wall collapses due to heavy rain in Noida

A man and his son died, while three other members of their family were critically injured when the wall of an under-construction factory collapsed in Sector 67 on Friday morning. 

Police said the incident took place at a time when heavy rain lashed the city. The wall of the under-conduction factory collapsed on the victims' house, adjoining it.

Police said the <g data-gr-id="27">deceaded</g> were identified as Pankaj Kumar (40) and his son Hemant (17). Pankaj’s wife Sunita (28), his daughter Meera (17), and Mukesh were injured in the incident. They are recuperating at a private hospital.

Police said the incident took place at <g data-gr-id="26">7am</g> when all family members were inside the house. The neighbours rescued them and took them to a nearby hospital, where the <g data-gr-id="30">Pankah</g> and <g data-gr-id="31">Hemand</g> were declared brought dead.

Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi, Station House Officer of the Phase-III police station in Noida, said: “The family members were living in slums developed on a plot adjoining the wall.”

The matter was reported to the local police and a case was lodged by the victims' family. Police, however, are yet to identify the owner of the under-construction factory. 

“The plot owner has not been identified yet. We have contacted the Noida Authority to get the owner’s details. Action will be taken against the owner,” added Dwivedi.

Three injured in Old Delhi wall collapse, police order probe 
 Three persons suffered minor injuries when the wall of the Arya Anathalaya collapsed in the Daryaganj area of Old Delhi. The officials of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North MCD) said that the wall collapsed around 2.30pm due to incessant showers. Three persons suffered minor injuries in the mishap.  The police and locals rushed the victims to a hospital, where they are recuperating. The Corporation has ordered for an enquiry into the case.
