Woman's body found stuffed in suitcase

Ghaziabad: The body of a 40-year-old female teacher, who went missing from home around five days ago, was found stuffed inside a suitcase from a forest along Gangcanal in Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad on Wednesday.

Police have arrested her male friend who was found accused of strangling her to death and then dumping the body in forest.

Geetika Verma, a resident of crossing republic society of Ghaziabad and worked as a teacher with Silver Line Prestige School in Kavi Nagar, went missing from her home on the afternoon of March 8 while her mother had also lodged a missing complaint with police soon after she went untraceable.

Police said that the woman engaged herself into relationship with one Deepak Chaudhary (24), a resident of Modinagar area of Ghaziabad and worked with a private company, after she got divorced with her husband.

"Soon after the woman went missing from her home, police teams were conducting search at various locations to trace her while a few suspects were also held for questioning.

Deceased's call details indicated involvement of Deepak into the case while the CCTV footage established a strong evidence against him. Deepak was held for questioning by police on Tuesday afternoon where he broke up and confessed to have committed the crime," said Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad.

Kumar informed that Deepak murdered Geetika after she forced him to marry her and threatened to file a rape case against him if he refuses. "During sustained interrogations, Deepak told police that he first met Geetika on Instagram while both of them decided to get into relationship around nine months ago. The couple had been meeting frequently at his rented flat at Brave Heart Residency in Raj Nagar extension area of Ghaziabad. Even on March 8, she went to Deepak's flat after taking a half day from school to meet him. He further told police that on the day of incident a heated argument broke out between them after she started forcing him to marry her while Deepak strangled her to death in a fit of anger," added Kumar.

The officer further said that after murdering the woman, accused Deepak, went to Noida to meet a friend leaving behind the dead body at his flat.

"The accused further told police that after committing the crime he called one of his friends and went to meet him in Noida where they watched a movie. On the morning of 9th March, he returned to his flat along with a black coloured suitcase which he had purchased from a mall in Mohan Nagar area of Ghaziabad. Deepak stuffed the body and other belongings of the deceased into it and dragged the bag to his car after which he drove to gangcanal and dumped the bag containing the body in the forest along the canal" said Shlok Kumar.

Police said that the body has been recovered while the accused is being sent to jail after producing before the court.
