New Delhi: Acting on a complaint filed by her father and sister, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has rescued a married woman from the house of her in-laws, who subjected her to severe mental and physical house.

In a statement on Friday, DCW said that the father had stated in his complaint that his daughter had got married two years, immediately after which her husband and in-laws began harassing her. One of the woman's 10-month-old twin daughters was also kept away from her forcibly, the father claimed.

He told the Commission that his daughter used to remain captive to the house, not allowed to go outside and not even fed properly.

Soon, a team of DCW visited the house in Faridabad, along with local police, and found the woman in a disturbed condition. It was found that her mother-in-law was forcing the woman to consume some medicines, while the husband used to beat her regularly.

"A police complaint was lodged at Bhoopani chowki and she was taken to the Trauma Centre. Later, she returned to her parental house with her father and sister. The Commission has demanded strict action in the matter and will be issuing notices to the district police," said a DCW official.
