New Delhi: In another case of street crime in Delhi a woman in late 30s was shot at by two unidentified bike-borne assailants near a five star hotel in Dwarka's Sector 12 on Thursday morning.
The incident took place around 8 am when she was coming back dropping her child to school in her car. An auto driver who witnessed the incident called the police and helped the victim.
The victim has been identified as Kiren Bala (30), a resident of same locality, sustained a bullet wound in her neck. She immdiately lost control of the car as the bullet hit her, the car rammed into the footpath.
The assailants fled the spot soon after shooting her brandishing guns. It is believed that the bike borne men were chasing her vehicle as she moved out and waiting for a right time to strike. "Kiren is a housewife and a part-time property dealer," a senior police officer said.
According to a senior police officer the incident took place at around 8 am at a roundabout near Radisson Blu hotel.
"Kiren was alone in the car when the incident took place. She sustained a bullet injury in her neck and was rushed to a nearby Veneketeswara Hospital with the help of an auto driver and passerby and said to be in critical condition," he said.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was involved in a family dispute. She is resident of Dwarka Sector 12, and behind the incident it seems she was been targeted and intension was not to rob her as her all the valuables were intact in the car. After the incident the bike assailants fled away from the spot," he added.
Police are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area. A few suspects have been detained in the case.
