Woman dies after falling from Ghaziabad high-rise

Ghaziabad: A 25-years-old girl, working with a Noida based real-estate company, has died after she fell off the balcony of her rented flat situated at the sixth floor in Gardenia square society in crossing Republic area of Ghaziabad on late Sunday night.

Police have detained her male friend in connection with the incident.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Zoya alias Nushrat Rehman, a native of Birbhum district in West Bengal.

"She had been living at a rented accommodation here in Ghaziabad and was working with a real estate company situated in sector 135 of Noida," said the police officials.

A security supervisor of the society said that the girl was with her male friend at her flat when the incident occurred.

"The girl along with a man were spotted by a guard in the parking area at the ground floor where the two were having drinks. When the guard stopped them to consume liquor at a public place, both of them stepped out of the car and went to the flat around 11:30 pm," the security supervisor said.

"Around 20 minutes later, the girl was seen hanging by the railing of her balcony shouting for help. Her male friend was also present with her in the balcony but it was not clear whether she jumped from there or was being pushed," he added.

Police officials said that Zoya was present with her male friend Deepak Gupta, who works as her senior in the sales and marketing department.

"Police received information from a security guard of the society and on reaching the spot, Deepak was present in her flat. We have detained him for questioning and

investigations are on, taking into consideration all the possible angles," said Manish Kumar Mishra, Superintendent of Police (City), Ghaziabad.
