Woman books OYO room to celebrate male friend's birthday, murdered

New Delhi: A 33-year-old woman booked OYO room to celebrate the birthday of her male friend 12 years younger to her in Alipur area of Outer North Delhi. But she ended up being dead and the boy behind bars, accused for her murder.

Police said that the room was booked in the name of deceased herself and the accused person namely Vikki Mann (21), a resident of Alipur, Delhi on Monday evening.

"As per record, both checked in on Monday to celebrate the accused's birthday. During investigating, it was found that a quarrel took place between them while they were drinking and in course of a quarrel, the accused hit on lady's throat and she became unconscious," said DCP, Outer North, Gaurav Sharma.

Police said that a PCR call was received at around 10.30 am at Alipur police station regarding a lady found unconscious in Oyo hotel. A police team rushed to the spot and she was immediately shifted to a hopital where she was declared brought dead. Her body was then sent for postmortem and her family was informed. The boy already left the hotel by the time police arrived. Immediately teams were formed to search him. The register of the hotel revealed his address and he was identified. Some CCTV footage of the area was also collected by the police team to get more clue of the occupants of the room. Several hotel staff were aslo questioned.

The deceased woman has been identified as Asha (name changed ), a resident of Khera Kalan, Delhi.

Due to the concerted effort of Alipur police team led by Inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO Alipur, the accused Vikki Mann has been apprehended and legal action is being taken against him. Police are investigating and based on his versions establishing the sequence of events. Moreover, the cops are also waiting for the autopsy report to get to the exact cause of death.
