New Delhi: The team of West Delhi Police arrested a suspected human trafficker who was involved in selling girls in big cities. The arrest was made from Tagore Garden area on Sunday. Police claimed that the accused is 25,000 rewarded fugitive proclaimed offender identified as Prabha Munni who was currently living in West Punjabi Bagh Delhi. "The accused person along with her husband Rohit Muni was wanting in a case of 2013. Rohit is still absconding. Jharkhand Police has declared a reward of Rs 25,000 each on their arrest," said the officer.
Police claimed that the accused was arrested under section 41.1(C) CrPC, following the due procedure of law. Information about her arrest was given to concerned police station and family members.
Police officials claimed that the fugitive duo is said to be running an NGO working in the interests of girls, brought for placement as housemaids in Delhi. However, under the cover of NGO, they commit human trafficking for the purpose of lucrative job opportunities in big cities. They are absconding since registration of the case in 2013.
In another case, a 40-year-old woman was arrested from Delhi for allegedly running a racket selling children, police said on Sunday. The woman is suspected to be the kingpin of the racket selling babies to childless couples at prices ranging between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, they said.
The accused was arrested three days ago. The racket came to the notice of Delhi Police last month, following which two police personnel met one of the accused posing as a childless couple. The accused was arrested and four children were rescued from him.
