Woman and son found murdered in Seemapuri

New Delhi: A woman and her son were murdered at her residence in Seemapuri area of Shahdara district on Saturday. Police claimed that an accused in the case has been arrested and the investigation revealed that the culprit was known to deceased. The investigators also suspect the role of another person in the case which is being probed.

According to police, the call was made by the sister of the deceased when she could not connect with the woman for the whole day on Saturday. Suspecting some foul play, she went to check herself. The house was found locked and the phone of the deceased was also switched off. A PCR call was made at the Seemapuri police station around 9:15 pm.

The police team reached the house and found one of the bodies in the bathroom whereas the woman was found dead inside the bed box. It is being believed that they had been attacked with a sharp weapon. The bodies were identified as 45-year-old woman and her son (27). They both lived in the rented accommodation in Dilshad Colony area which comes under Seemapuri jurisdiction.

"The deceased youth was pursuing some course from an open university and also worked as a delivery boy for one of the online food application," said a senior police officer.

During the initial investigation, police claimed that the motive of the murder can be enmity although they also found some shreds of evidence of ransacking in the house although not many valuable things were kept in the house. Police started questioning the family members and other known people to get the further clue in the case. The CCTV footages of the area were also checked.

On Sunday evening, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav claimed that the case was cracked in less than 24 hours. They arrested a person who turned out to be the friend of son. The motive behind the murder was suspected to be a loan which he had taken from the deceased woman.

"The accused had a friendly entry into the house after which the woman was being murdered first and then the son was stabbed to death, who returned home later," added the DCP. Police also suspect the involvement of another person which is being further investigated. A case under the appropriate Sections of IPC has been registered.
