New Delhi: Dwarka district police on Monday claimed to have solved the double murder of a woman and her 17-year-old son, with the arrested of the deceased woman's brother-in-law, who shot them dead over the ownership dispute of a house in Palam Extension.
Police claimed that after his arrest on Sunday, the accused, 35-year-old Pramod Kumar Joshi, told them during interrogation that in February 2017, he was attacked with knives by unknown persons, allegedly at the behest of his sister-in-law Deepa Sharma and received 700 stitches during treatment.
After they received a tip-off, cops nabbed Joshi from near a booster pump in Dwarka Sector-20, where he had come oto meet an acquaintance.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh on Monday stated that during interrogation, the accused revealed that his parents have built a three-storey house in Palam Extension, the ground floor of which was let out on rent and used for commercial purpose.
Deepa reportedly wanted to own the ground floor due to its commercial value and thus often claimed ownership.
She apparently used to pick quarrels with the tenants and harass them, so that they would vacate the property.
The dispute over owning the floors aggravated with each passing day, resulting in the quarrel between Deepa Sharma and Pramod.
Rishi, Deepa's son, also got involved and used to threaten Pramod, even getting into a scuffle with him.
"Pramod managed to purchase an illegal pistol and live rounds from Uttar Pradesh, which he always kept loaded and tucked in his pants, and on January 14 he killed them both," said the DCP.
