NEW DELHI: Delhi police has arrested a snatcher who is a great music enthusiast and also copied hairstyle sported by pop singing icons. Several cases of snatching have been solved with his arrest.
On August 22, the police team got information that a desperate snatcher involved in several mobile snatchings is roaming near Matiyala Sector-3 at Dwarka area.
The team swung into action to develop the information and laid a trap at Dwarka- Matiyala road. A boy on a Passion motorcycle was spotted and signalled to stop.
He tried to escape but was controlled and interrogated. His search also resulted in the recovery of one country made pistol and two live cartridges. Four snatched costly mobile phones were also recovered.
Accused Vishal Goluis was born and brought up in Delhi. He passed class 12th from government school and started his graduation but did not continue to study due to bad company.
He started taking drugs at an early age. To fund his drug spending, he started snatching and theft. He was jailed for thefts/snatchings in 2017 and 2018. He was last released from jail in December 2018. After coming out of jail he re-started snatchings in the area to fund his drug addiction and to gift costly mobiles to his girlfriend. He also procured a country-made pistol.
"He is a music enthusiast and dances after taking drugs. He also has a similar hairstyle of a famous rap singer. He sells the snatched mobile and uses the money for parties and drugs. He needed a motorcycle for fleeing quickly after snatching so recently he stole the recovered motorcycle," said a senior police officer.
