NEW DELHI: While three youths were changing the tyre of their punctured car, they were hit by a speeding vehicle at Adarsh Nagar in North West Delhi. One person identified as Rahul was killed on the spot while another named Goldi was seriously injured in the accident. The third person Ranjan who was inside the car escaped unhurt.
The accident took place at around 2:15 am on Monday when the three friends were returning home in their i -10 car. When they reached Adarsh Nagar, they realised that the tyre of their car was punctured. They then stopped the car and took out the stepney to change the tyre. The two youths Goldi and Rahul got down to do the job while Ranjan stayed in the driver's seat.
Rahul was changing the tyre and Goldi stood guard when a speeding vehicle mowed down the two. While Rahul was crushed under the wheels of the vehicle, Goldi too suffered serious injuries. However, Ranjan who was sitting inside the car escaped unhurt miraculously.
"They were returning home when the accident took place. However, we are still clueless about the offending vehicle, we have registered a case under section 279, 304A of the IPC and are investigating. The deceased has been identified as Rahul," said a senior police officer.
The three men are believed to be working at an Orchestra in Delhi. The cops have sent the body for postmortem and are trying to find out the identity of the vehicle involved in the accident. The cops are also checking the CCTV footage of the route to ascertain the vehicles on the route.
