New Delhi: As protests outside Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) turned violent on Sunday, students sent videos of terror and brutality as Delhi Police entered the campus vicinity and allegedly beat up many.

"Please save us, ma'am. I don't want to die here. Please do something," a student called the correspondent from inside the campus. The police who was trying to disperse the local crowd allegedly started using lathi on students as well. The students alleged that as soon as the police reached their protest, they started using force and started beating the students.

"We were forced to go inside the campus, where we hid at different places. I was reading Namaz in the prayer room, when police came in and started beating us," said a student, who had somehow managed to come out of the campus. The student was crying and had burning skin due to tear gas. The correspondent along with other journalists consoled the hysterical student.

As the stand-off continued, the police entered the campus and allegedly fired tear gas. For hours the police fired tear gas inside the campus. "I can't breathe, please help. They are firing tear gas inside the building, we have nowhere to run," said Ainaz a student who was stuck inside.

The police also dragged many students outside and put them in police van. "We didn't do anything. We were studying inside the library, the police barged in. Please help," said a student from inside the police van.
