Gurugram: A 'Voter Park', set up to spread awareness about "history of elections" & "provide important information related to voting", was inaugurated in Gurugram on Thursday morning. Dummy VVPAT and EVM machines have been set up at the park, along with a dummy of a publicity van. Inaugurating the park the deputy commissioner Amit Khatri said that this initiative was important to create awareness among the voters and thereby increase the voting percentage.

With the largest ever voter turnout expected in the Lok Sabha elections the district administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that there is a large scale turnout on May 12. Besides increasing the number of booths for the first time there are also plans to set up Pink booths where separate polling booths will be created for women. The Pink booths have been created to improve the sex ratio figures in the voting process.

"Gurugram district has always voted proactively. In the last General elections, the voting percentage was over 70. We would want this healthy trend to continue. In the coming months we will be providing facilities by enhancing the communication channels so that the eligible voters do not face any hassles," said a senior public official.
