Very few courses in North Campus left to choose from

New Delhi: With the release of the fourth cut-off list, Delhi University on Thursday night dashed the hopes of many undergraduate aspirants who were hoping to get into coveted colleges, as many closed off admission to several popular courses.

The highest recorded cut-off in the fourth list is for BA Psychology (Hons) at Lady Shri Ram College, with 92 per cent for general category students.

In many North Campus colleges, at least five courses are closed in the fourth cut-off, with Hindu College shutting its doors for as many as 16 courses for general category students.

Courses that are still open at the college, however, still have high cut-offs, with BA Economics (Hons) asking 97.25 per cent. Even BSc Statistics (Hons) and BA Sociology (Hons) made it to the fourth cut-off, with 97 per cent and 94.75 per cent, respectively.

At Kirori Mal College, of the 21 undergraduate courses, admissions have closed for 10, which include Economics (Hons), English (Hons), History (Hons). However, BA (Pass) with 93.75 per cent BCom (Hons) with 96.25 and BCom with 96.75 are still open.

At Lady Shri Ram College, eleven courses are closed. But some courses like BA Programme, BSc Statistics (Hons) and BA Philosophy (Hons) are still available, at 93.5, 97 and 92 per cent, respectively.

Shri Ram College of Commerce, which had set the second highest cut-off when the first list was released, still has seats available in some courses for reserved category students.

A total of eight courses have been closed at Miranda House, but others like Economics (Hons) with 96.75 per cent, English (Hons) with 96.5 and Sociology (Hons) at 94.75 are still available.

At Ramjas College, Economics (Hons) at 96.75 per cent, English (Hons) at 95.25 per cent and BA Programme at 93.75 per cent are among the courses still open.

In the last list, Sri Venkateswara College in South Campus had many seats up for grabs, as many students had opted for North Campus colleges over South Campus. However, the college now has closed ten courses. Yet, BCom (Hons) at 95.75 per cent, Economics (Hons) at 95 per cent and BA Programme at 92.5 per cent are still open.

Meanwhile, courses open for general category students at Gargi College include BA Programme at 91 per cent and BA Applied Psychology (Hons) 96.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) released its second cut-off list, with the highest for BA Programme at 72 per cent in Janki Devi Memorial College, and the highest for BCom at 84 per cent in Hansraj College.

Earlier, the fourth cut-off list was announced to be released on July 9. However, the University took many by surprise by releasing the list four days ahead of the scheduled release.
