Two separate road mishaps leave over a dozen injured

In two separate road accidents recorded in the Capital, more than a dozen people were injured. 

In the first, a tourist bus carrying devotees overturned in Burari after the driver reportedly fell asleep during the ride. The accident injured around a dozen of commuters. 

Meanwhile, in the second incident, a truck carrying cement packets overturned when a car suddenly appeared in front of it near Kanhaiya Nagar metro station area. 

Four people were injured in the accident. 

The tourist bus carrying devotees for their Ajmer Sharif pilgrimage met with an accident after it lost control and rammed into a divider. Then, it turned turtle near Nirankari ground area in Burari. the injured are being treated at Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital. 

Based on the statements of the injured, the cops claimed that the driver slept off while driving the vehicle. The drive has fled the spot soon after the accident and the cops have launched a manhunt for him. 

According to police, the incident took place on the intervening night of Saturday to Sunday when a bus carrying around 40 tourists from Pratapgarh (UP) was going through the underpass near Nirankari grounds . 
"As soon as we got the information, we sent a police team to the spot. Along with the teams, fire tenders and an ambulance was also deputed to the spot. When the team reached the spot, they found that several residents had also involved themselves in the rescue work," said a top cop. 

The police have registered a case at Jahangirpuri police station. "The exact cause of the accident will only be ascertained when the driver is arrested," the official added. 

In the second incident, the cops stated that the truck with cement packets was on its way towards Ashok Vihar area. Also, it had around ten labourers including the driver. When the vehicle reached near Kanhaiya Nagar metro station, an unidentified car suddenly appeared from the opposite side. Since the truck was being driven at a high speed, the driver tried to manoeuvre his way out of a head on collision. 

"Since he tried to avoid the accident, his truck was overturned injuring four people. All of them are out of danger and sustained minor injuries. The occupants of the car had already left. No case has been registered so far," said a police official.
