NEW DELHI: Twenty days since violence broke out in north-east Delhi, two more bodies were identified by families in Chaman Park and Indira Vihar respectively. Death in the violence stands at 53 as of now. In Chaman Park, 30-year-old Mursalean's body was buried by his family on Friday.
Five bodies, including Mursalean's body, were recovered from Shiv Vihar's drain on February 27. All five were victims of the riots that shook the Capital.
Mursalean was a scrap worker, and the family claimed they had been missing since the riots. His body was recovered, after which the family identified the body after DNA testing. The family finished last rites after they received the body.
Another victim has been identified as a resident of Indira Vihar. The family received his body on Friday. Meanwhile, Aas Mohammed had been missing since February 25, after which the family filed a missing complaint.
On February 27, five unidentified bodies were found at Shiv Vihar drain, Mohammed's body was one of them, which was identified by the family on March 9.
"He was my oldest son and a daily wage labourer. I don't know who did this to him, but it has left our family shattered," Mohammed Tehseen, the victim's father told the correspondent.
Meanwhile, in the adjacent area of Mustafabad is Chaman Park, where the family of 26-year-old Raheem is still mourning his loss. "He went to work on February 25 and did not return, we don't know what happened to him or how he was killed. But his body was found in Shiv Vihar nala and we were called to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital to recognise the body," said Javed, his elder brother.
All the five had been missing since the riots took place. There are many missing persons from different areas of North-East Delhi, and families are fearing what to expect. Many are regularly visiting GTB hospital to find the whereabouts of their loved ones.
About 44 people are said to have died at GTB
hospital, five at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, three at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash
Narayan (LNJP) Hospital and one at Jag Pravesh Chandra hospital, while more than
300 have been injured in
the riots.
