New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday said they have arrested two African nationals from north west Delhi's Dwarka district for smuggling heroin and being part of narcotic drugs cartel involved in supplying drugs across the Capital.
The law enforcement agency stated that the accused did not have passports and visas and are staying illegally in the country.
Cops said the accused men were identified as 33-year-old Sace Lirbat and 29-year-old Okna Andern, both natives of Ivory Coast. The duo was arrested on May 28 by police when they had come to Uttam Nagar for supplying heroin to a drug peddler.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena said that when the police tried to corner the two, they tried to escape. However, the duo was chased by cops, before they fell down on the road due to the bumpy roads.
Meena added that after completing necessary legal procedures, frisking of the two accused was carried out, during which each was found to be in possession of transparent polythene containing murky powder.
The powder was tested with field testing kit and found to be heroin. The total contraband recovered from the accused was weighed and found to be 50 grams.
