Noida/ Greater Noida: Two persons died while four others were critically injured in two separate incidents reported in different parts of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
In the first incident, a 30-year-old man died while four of his family members, including an 18-month-old girl, were critically injured when their car turned turtle after its tyre burst on Yamuna Expressway near sports city on early Wednesday morning.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Anuj, a resident of Delhi's Dilshad Garden area.
On Wednesday morning, Anuj was returning from his native Jalaun district to Delhi via Yamuna Expressway, along with his infant daughter, wife, sister and mother, when their car suffered a tyre burst and collided with a divider.
"The incident occurred near Sports city. We suspect that the driver might have lost control over the vehicle after getting dozed off. The actual reason can only be ascertained after questioning the survivors," a senior police officer of Dankaur police station said.
The officer further said that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem while the injured victims were admitted to Jaypee Hospital in Noida.
In the second incident, a young man was killed after a speeding roadways bus ran over him near City Center area of Noida late Tuesday night.
Police said that Deepak, a native of Morna village of Bijnor, succumbed to his injuries after being hit by the bus.
"The incident occurred when the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle and hit a pedestrian and few rickshaws parked along the road.
"A pedestrian died, while the bus driver has been arrested," said Pankaj Pant, station house officer, Sector-24 police station.
