NEW DELHI: Routed from neighboring countries, fake Indian currency notes (FICN) were coming to Delhi; but the gang reaching with the fake notes was arrested from Bhalswa Golf Course area in national Capital.
Delhi Police on Friday said that the two accused were carrying three lakh of FICN in the denomination of Rs 2,000.
According to police, the accused were identified as Asif (24) and Shakeel (32). The recovered FICN were printed in a sophisticated printing unit and have nearly all the security features, including security thread and watermarks, making it difficult for a common man to distinguish the FICN from an original currency note.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said that during surveillance, it was revealed that FICN is being suspected pumped by a neighboring country in India through other neighboring countries.
"It was reported that FICN is being suspected to smuggle into Malda, West Bengal, through the border and bordering districts of Bihar like East Champaran, by anti-national elements. From there, it is being handed over to FICN racketeers in various parts of the country including Delhi," said the DCP.
Police said that both the arrested persons disclosed that they were involved in transporting and circulation of FICN for the last five years.
