New Delhi: In a freak incident, two children who were playing between two stationary trucks were crushed to death on Friday after a third truck rammed into one of the stationary trucks, causing it to collide into the other stationary truck on Zakhira flyover, Delhi Police said.
The driver of the truck which rammed into the stationary truck fled from the spot immediately after the incident, while police have arrested the drivers of the two stationary trucks, who were identified as Gautam and Dhananjay Prajapati.
The two drivers were sitting inside their respective trucks and were arrested as they had illegally parked their vehicles on the flyover loop.
Police said the deceased children, Iftikar Alam (10) and Mohd Aftab (12), were living in slums near Zakhira.
Police explained that the offending truck, bearing a Haryana registration
number, had rammed into one of the parked trucks, causing it to ram into the other stationary truck.
Alam and Aftab were crushed between the two trucks and grievously injured.
They were rushed to a hospital nearby by police, where they were declared brought dead by doctors.
Police said that the driver of the offending truck is likely to be arrested soon, as they found out his details.
