Tis Hazari Court clash: AAP lashes out at brutality meted out to lawyers
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Raghav Chadha lashed out against the brutality meted out to lawyers by the Delhi Police.
He said that Delhi witnessed a shameful law and order situation on Saturday where some Delhi Police officers brutally assaulted lawyers at Tis Hazari Court.
Chadha said, "It is even more shocking as the police opened fired at unarmed lawyers. Delhi Police gave a glimpse of its brutality and high handedness by open firing at the lawyers. The firing which was unprovoked on the upper part of the body of lawyers raises some grave questions. Ever since Amit Shah has assumed the responsibility as India's Home Minister; the Delhi Police has demonstrated unrestrained brutality and law and order situation is worsening. If lawyers, the custodian of justice and legal system are not safe in the premises of a court of law, what can be expected for the common man of Delhi?" Chadha demanded that the Union Home Minister should urgently setup a judicial enquiry to investigate into the matter of brutal attack against the lawyer community in Delhi.
"A serious investigation and action against erring Delhi Police officials who participated in the brutal assault on lawyers. Delhi Police must be made accountable to the people of Delhi. Roles, responsibilities and accountability must be fixed on officials in Delhi police in view of sharply deteriorating Law and order situation in Delhi," he added.
