Thak Thak gang member who travelled to Delhi from Meerut daily to steal mobile phones arrested

NEW DELHI: An accused used to travel from Meerut and came to Delhi almost Delhi to steal mobiles via Thak Thak gang modus operandi by distracting the attention of his targets at various red lights.

The accused has been nabbed by Delhi police. Several cases of mobile theft have been solved with his arrest.

The accused has been identified as Wasim Qureshi, a resident of Meerut. He is a drug addict He was previously booked in seven cases of theft in different police stations of Delhi and UP.

On sustained questioning, he disclosed that in order to earn easy money, he started coming to Delhi to commit crime.

He came into contact with his associate and they both started stealing two-wheelers with the help of master key. They also used to snatch/steal mobile phones from different areas of Delhi on these stolen motorcycles/scooters.

"He used to come to Delhi on a daily basis by train or bus and after committing the incident, he returned to Meerut, UP. From the last few months, he and his accomplice was stealing belongings and valuables of the innocent car owners by using different modus operandi of 'thak thak' gang,' said DCP Central Mandeep Singh Randhawa.

On his personal search, four mobile phones were recovered and all the mobile phones were found stolen from the area of IP Estate and Kamla Market.

Further, on questions about ownership of the motorcycle, he could not give any satisfactory reply and on verification, it was revealed that the motorcycle was found stolen from the area of Rajender Nagar, Delhi. Cops say that at least seven cases of theft are solved with his arrest.
